What Are The Doshas?

The three primary doshas or constitutions are Pitta, Vata, and Kapha. Each represents two of the five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. Pitta is a combination of Fire and Water elements, Kapha is made of Water and Earth elements and Vata is a mixture of Air and Space. Our true nature or prakriti, is the constitution or the specific mix of doshas we were born with.

When our doshas are in balance, it means they are close to their original, healthy and optimal states of being. If our lifestyle is pretty erratic or if events happen that are out of our control (like a pandemic) it causes an imbalance which can lead to elevated states of stress and anxiety resulting in the mind / body / spirit disconnect and imbalance that eventually leads to dis-ease.

Pitta Dosha
Combination of Fire and Water

During this session we’ll lean how to identify when Pitta is in excess or out of balance and how to bring it back into equilibrium. This constitution shines when participating in a cool and calm exercise routine, working at only 70% of their capacity. A balanced Pitta constitution displays signs of brilliance, alertness, transformation, energy, and focused.

Schedule

  • A welcoming meditation and mudra for Pitta dosha
  • A balancing Pitta movement meditation and embodiment practice.
  • Practice reflection and group discussion on Pitta dosha
  • Pillars of Self Care and workbook activities
  • Q+A and preparation for next session.

Date: 24 April 2022

Vata Dosha
Combination of Air and Ether

During this session we’ll lean how to identify when Vata is in excess or out of balance and how to bring it back into equilibrium. This constitution thrives doing activities which are grounding and strengthening while cultivating warmth and lubricates the body. A balanced Vata constitution is creative, active, light, and flexible.

Schedule

  • A welcoming meditation and mudra for Vata dosha
  • A Vata pacifying movement meditation and embodiment practice.
  • Practice reflection and group discussion on Vata dosha
  • Pillars of Self Care and workbook activities
  • Q+A and preparation for next session.

Date: 8 May 2022

Kapha Dosha
Combination of Earth and Water

During this session we’ll lean how to identify when Kapha is in excess or out of balance and how to bring it back into equilibrium. This constitution may find it challenging to get going but once they do, they’re really good at sustaining a routine. A balanced Kapha constitution is stable, loyal, nurturing, strong, calm, consistent and determined.
