Free Solstice Embodied Ritual

Suitable for both hemispheres!
You’ll need a brand new unlit candle, writing material and an optional favourite track that inspires movement!

Before lighting the candle, align your spine between the heavens and the earth while enjoying a few conscious regular breaths, notice the quality of your breath, any sensation of your breath and the taste of your breath.

As you spark the wick and the candle ignites, notice where comes alive in your body. Which part of your body, your heart? Mind? Belly? Pelvis? Your spine? Where in your body is tingling or feeling warm or cool? What sensations are calling for your attention after you lit the candle?

Rest your gaze on the flame and stay connected to the sensation in that part of your body. You can place your hands there, breathe into that area and gently begin to move, stretch and explore the expansion and contact of that part of your body.

Physically exploring the ignited aliveness in your body for as long as feels good. If you need more movement inspiration play a favourite song that inspires movement!

Once you feel complete return to a comfortable seat and enjoy some regular conscious breaths once more.

Journaling prompt – Ask or enquire to that aliveness in your body:
Northern Hemisphere: What insights or wisdom does this peaking light of the Summer Solstice  have for me at this time?
Southern Hemisphere: What insights or wisdom does this fertile darkness of the Winter Solstice  have for me at this time?

Continue the reflective writing for as long as the words continue to flow.

To complete, place your hands on that part of your body and send it gratitude and thanks for the wisdom and insights during this Solstice time.

As we’re not together in person or online this Solstice I hope you enjoy this simple Embodied Ritual from home.

Wishing you a wonderful Solstice dear friends!
