The Sun or Surya in Yogic philosophy represents the ultimate source of Prana / Life Force energy
.
It’s a bright divine symbol of awakened consciousness, brimming with vitality , solar-power and illuminating the Light within every single living cell on the planet.
The Tantras revere the Sun’s Light as a reflection of the Self / Atman, a living illuminating essence, vibrating and radiating within each individual as a True illumination of the Self.
Surya is regarded as Masculine and the Moon or Chandra is the embodiment of the Sacred Feminine. The Sun’s power is Shakti, the creative and sustaining force of the Universe, linked to the primordial source of Light and Life Force Energy. Both the Sun and the Moon are not separate, they are one, a reflection of each other in their individuality
Our inner Surya is activated with each inhalation and our inner Chandra is activated with each exhalation. Each interchange and cycle informs the next. We are the living breathing embodiment of the Sun and the Moon with each breath from the moment we come into this life right up until we depart.
This ultimate source of Prana feeds and nourishes every single cell of our body and every living thing on the plant, without this life force energy we wouldn’t exist! It fuels nature to grow, it ripens our fruit and vegetables, it contributes to our health, vitality and wellbeing and it replenishes the air that we breath.
Try this: On your next in-breath, try inhaling the golden light of Surya (Sun) and as your exhale, exhale with the silvery light of Chandra (Moon). Continue for a few rounds and let me know your experience in the comments.
This Elemental philosophy is one of my favourites to study and share because it’s deeply rich, interconnected in many ways and speaks to my kinaesthetic nature.
If this speaks to you too, all my events are inspired by and infused with the alchemy of Elemental philosophy. Visit the
