The difference between intention and resolution

A brand new year invite us to wipe the slate clean and literally begin again. We want to kickstart in a positive way by connecting with some new (or ignite old) hopes and dreams for the coming days, month or year ahead.

Enter new year resolutions!

Personally, I think the word resolution holds a pretty heavy responsibility, almost like a burden which makes me feel disappointed at myself if I get derailed and don’t resolve this expectation.

Because of this I’m working consciously with new year intentions instead. Here’s the difference so you can decide for yourself what works best for you!

Intention
* Is something you’re calling in, making space for or manifesting in your life that is in clear alignment with your hearts desires or dharma (life purpose).
* Cultivates promise and excitement about the journey ahead without being fixated on the desired outcome. Similar to a prayer, affirmation or wishful positive words, an intention holds a softer more malleable vibration that will change and evolve as you do because they’re all-encompassing!
* Ultimately an intention comes from the heart, is heart felt, heart led and heart fuelled.

Resolution
+ Is something you’re trying to resolve or change within yourself or current life situation, they’re measurable, specific and focused on the end game.
+ They are like hard fast goals which, if not met or achieved can make you feel like you failed. A resolution is seeded in the mind because the mind (or ego self) believes it knows best.
+ Ultimately resolutions are more or less focused on changing or fixing something about yourself or lifestyle hence resolutions tend to inspired negative thoughts about your current situation.

Thoughts?
